Digressions: I will be a Sun Sponge Today
Memo to Self:
Hi Self...Great decision on choosing to be a sun sponge today!
You did a great job on not getting in a snit this morning because of something that meant a lot less than the energy you might have spent stewing over it. Kudos to you Ms. B.
You can either see the world through your own little human short view, or you can take the overview of the Almighty.
Brenda, everyday you have a choice. You can either turn your face to the sky and soak up a little sunshine, or you can be short-focused and look at moldy old problems you probably cannot do a heck of a lot about anyhow. Choice is a wonderful thing! It's up to you. There is so much to be happy about...be thankful for the fact that you are not in Indonesia, if nothing else.
Yep...lot's of folks will think this is a mighty big chunk of self-involved backpatting and hoorahs, but they are the same kind of folks you should continue to ignore.
They are the ones who would be your maginifying glass to bring your focus to the gray and dark areas of the so-called failures in your life. You see them as educational experiences...others would hope you be inhibited by obsessively assessing your flaws.
I say let's whip out the headphones, slap a good CD into the computer and sing along. In fact, let's dress up the dog in a red bandana!
Life is good. You're kind of a fun gal, Brenda. What about this: Let's just take a moment to sing indulgently, childishly and loud enough with your headphones on so that Miss Dog goes off to the bedroom in a huff.
"Soak Up The Sun"
Sheryl Crow
My friend the communist
Holds meetings in his RV
I can't afford his gas
So I'm stuck here watching TV
I don't have digital
I don't have diddly squat
It's not having what you want
It's wanting what you've got
[CHORUS:]
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Gonna tell everyone
To lighten up (I'm gonna tell 'em that)
I've got no one to blame
For every time I feel lame
I'm looking up o I'm gonna soak up the sun
I'm gonna soak up the sun
I've got a crummy job
It don't pay near enough
To buy the things it takes
To win me some of your love
Every time I turn around
I'm looking up, you're looking down
Maybe something's wrong with you
That makes you act the way you do
Maybe i am crazy too
[CHORUS]
I'm gonna soak up the sun
While it's still free
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Before it goes out on me
Don't have no master suite
***I'm still the king of me****
You have a fancy ride, but baby
I'm the one who has the key
Every time I turn around
I'm looking up, you're looking down
Maybe something's wrong with you
That makes you act the way you do
Maybe I am crazy too
[CHORUS]
I'm gonna soak up the sun
Got my 45 on
So I can rock on.
